Get Healthy

Those who join a Latino Experience team or apply to become a Short Term Volunteer, are accepted only on condition of being cleared as ‘fit to travel’ by Interhealth. In order to do that you need to download and complete the Volunteer’s Health Declaration Form, and send it to Interhealth. Their doctors will review your form, and let us know if you are ‘fit to travel’, or contact you if they need any more information.

You will also need to have inoculatinos for various tropical diseases (yellow fever, typhoid, tetanus etc). Which ones you need may depend on the country you are going to, and may change over time. Interhealth are able to send you a ‘Health Information Pack’ which will give you up to date information about inoculations, first aid kits and factsheets on common health issues, for the place you are going. You can download a ‘Request for Health Information Pack’ here. Just fill it in and send it to Interhealth with your payment. It’s not free so you could decide to do this as a team.

At your orientation, we will also give you some advice about keeping healthy while you are in South America.
