| 'Fiesta Latina' - SAMS Sheffield Roadshow - 17 May 2008 7:00 - 10:00 pm |
On the evening of Saturday 17 May, the church of St Polycarp’s, Malin Bridge (near Hillsborough) in Sheffield, hosts a special evening event with food, Latin dancing and presentations on the work of God’s church in various South American countries. These include a live telephone link with Dr Andrew Leake, working for the Anglican social programme in Northern Argentina in the battle against deforestation of indigenous lands for growing soya for the European and Chinese markets. Other features will be a presentation by Joao Campelo (Brazil) and Barbara Pino (Chile), young people working in UK parishes as part of the SAMS Latin Volunteer scheme. And St Polycarp's vicar, Patrick Coghlan, arrives back the day before from a visit to Argentina, so he'll be telling us about it, as well as highlighting the special relationship between the dioceses of Sheffield and Argentina.
Tickets cost 4 pounds (2 pounds for children). Pay on the door but let us know you're coming by emailing med@samsgb.org.

| Slide down the church for SAMS - 24 May 2008 |
Julie Shaw, Developments Co-ordinator for Trinity Church, Ossett, West Yorkshire, is working on a project called Make It Hot, aiming to raise £200,000 to install a geo-thermal heating system in the church in spring 2009.
A major fundraising activity is planned for 24 May, in the form of a ‘zip wire slide’ from the church tower. Spaces are limited, but they would like other churches and charities to benefit and use the opportunity if they wish to raise funds for themselves.
Please see attached flyer for details, or contact Julie on 01924 273671.
